Espinos war Mitglied der spanischen Nationalmannschaft in den 70'er Jahren. Er war Präsident der Spain Karate Federation 1984 bis 1996 und seit 1997 ist er Präsident der European Karate Federation und Präsident der WKF.
JKFan: "Understandably, the karate community is disappointed about the IOC's desicion to only accept golf and rugby. When and where were you when you heard the news?" Espinos: "I was present in Berlin on 13th August."
JKFan: "What happens now for karate to try again to be accepted by the IOC?" Espinos: "We have to discuss internally about our future."
JKFan:"To attract more media attention to karate, do you think sport karate needs a professional league? Espinos: "We have in mind the so called Master's Cup, that will be joining for 2 hours the 12 best athletes in the world. This will be a WKF initiative, developed and preformed by the WKF."
JKFan:"Is there anything you would like the japanese karate community to know, any message you have for them?" Espinos: " Japan is the reference for karate for the world and for every single person involved. We need a renewed support of the JKF and we are going to try our best to archieve the best mutual understanding and cooperation with the JKF."
